Steven Baris is influenced by the increasingly built-over and highly engineered landscapes that lie beyond the major cities and their suburbs. He is especially interested in those massive boxlike buildings commonly known as distribution centers scattered alongside the expressways, those over-scaled, decidedly horizontal structures that overwhelm and reconfigure.

Steven Baris received a MFA from the Tyler School of Art and lives outside of Philadelphia. He has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Philadelphia, New York, and in numerous venues across North America and Europe.
