What is screenprinting?
Screenprinting pushes ink through a stencil on a fine mesh screen, one color at a time. Every color gets its own screen and its own pass, so the ink sits bold and flat on the paper or fabric.

Separate
The artwork is split into one layer for each ink color.

Film
Each layer is printed in solid black on clear film, at the size of the final print.

Expose
A screen coated with light-sensitive emulsion is exposed to light through the film. Where the film is black, the emulsion washes out and leaves an open stencil.

Print
Ink is pulled across the screen with a squeegee, through the open mesh and onto the paper or shirt. Then the next color, and the next.
