Hand Over Hand is a print that combines a black and white reduction of a marbled drawing with a photograph of a 9 foot tall uncompleted painting in my studio, and raindrops drawn in a computer program. The image represents several speeds: the speed of ink on water, the speed of a photograph, the speed of a hand, the speed of the artist clumsily drawing raindrops with a computer mouse, and finally the speed of the machine as it prints it all. The resulting print reflects my interests in the way time is recorded in objects, and the way images can be endlessly reconstituted and combined, especially when they are digitized.
