Alex Gingrow: The Thick River

Thick River is Alex Gingrow’s first edition series and draws from her ongoing exploration of visual poetry, tempo, and pattern play. Like the goal of all good literature, Gingrow strives to make nuanced work that examines the oddities and intricacies of the human condition. 

Born in Knoxville, TN in 1979, Gingrow earned her BA from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC before pursuing a Post-Bac Certificate from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and finally completing her MFA at the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2007. Gingrow has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally and has received critical reviews from publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Modern Painters, and Frieze Magazine. Gingrow currently lives and works in New York’s Hudson Valley with her family and is co-owner of Stony Kill Studios in Kerhonkson, NY.
